Edge Of The Plank: Riot- Paramore- Album Review

Riot- Paramore- Album Review
Riot is the 2nd album by Paramore and was released in 2007, and hasgained double platinum status. Having heard Brand New Eyes first, thenAll We Know Is falling, I didn't acknowledge what to expect from this.

~~~ALBUM COVER~~~
The album cover is a simple, effective cover with Riot! written all overit in dark and one in red.
I believe this is emphatically a much nicercover to their first- it is often more intriguing and rocky. . .?
~~~TRACKLIST~~~
The album contains 11 tracks.

1. For A Pessimist, I'm Pretty Optimistic 4.5/5
The album starts off with an exciting and addictive song which remindsus all why we love Paramore. This is a guitar heavy song with a greatbeat. and an amazing start to the album.

2. That's What You Get 4.5/5
The second strain is an upbeat and exciting song which reminds me of"Whoa" from the previous album, and really puts you in an upbeat mood.one of my favorite songs on the album.

3. Hallelujah 4/5
This song shows off Hayley's vocals whilst maintaining an upbeat andexciting song. It is yet another great strain on the album; this one isslightly different and has a different tone, yet the consistency intheir style is maintained.

4. Misery Business 5/5
The introduction to this song misled me into thinking this would be a ba-a-adsong. but the guitar backing quickly rectified my presumption, andunveiled perhaps the best song on the album. but that intro! WHY!

5. When It Rains 3.5/5
A somewhat more dull verse which does not allow much upheaval in thechorus, and is rather bland and does not excite. There is a great backingbeat though.

6. Let The Flames Begin 5/5
This call is extremely upbeat, and another favourite. It is slightlyshouty but emotive.

7. Miracle 4/5
Another strong track with all the Paramore aspects you'd expect. Again,as with the previous album, it starts to experience the same, yet the songsare different. This is a sound track nonetheless, and I especially likethe bridge part.

8. Crushcrushcrush 3.5/5
This course is somewhat darker than the early tracks, yet there issomething addictive about it. not as warm as the refrain as the verse,and around parts remind me of Amy Studt's Paper Made Men album...

9. We Are Broken 4.5/5
We are nearing the end of the album, and this strain is much softer thananything else we have heard from Paramore. It is a large song, and Ionly wish they had slot this in the middle, so we get a slight breakfrom all the upbeat guitar heavy tracks.

10. Fences 5/5
This call is addictive, up pace and really catchy! It is slightly popand is unlike to the distinctive style. which makes this song stand outand I enjoy it!

11. Born for This 4/5
The final strain on the album has a big guitar beat and the strain is good,but not amazing. Nonetheless a large end to an awful album!!!

TRACKS TO LOVE: That's What You Get, Misery Business, Let The FlamesBegin, Fences
TRACKS TO SKIP: These aren't necessarily BAD, but just isn't as well asthe rest~ When It Rains

~~~OVERALL~~~
I wasn't sure what to require from this, as I wasn't really feeling theirfirst album having first heard Brand New Eyes. This album, Riot, is areal gem, with a bulk of tracks really upbeat with great guitarring,a strong rhythm and good vocals. I know many of the songs such as Fencesand Misery Business, but 90% of the songs on here are very effective and Ican listen to them non-stop!!
I would highly recommend this album as easily as their third album, BrandNew Eyes, if you like rock/ pop rock/ alternative rock.
